He Shou Wu (both the red and white forms, fleeceflower root) 15 g each + Gou Qi Zi (goji berry) 15 g + Tu Si Zi (dodder seed) 15 g + Fu Ling (poria) 15 g + Niu Xi (achyranthes root) 15 g + Dang Gui (Chinese angelica root) 15 g + Bu Gu Zhi (psoralea fruit) 6 g = 96 g.

Converted to a 5:1 granule extract:

96 g raw herb ÷ 5 = 19.2 g granules.

Recommended dose and method of administration:

• Standard adult daily dose: the classic honey pill is typically taken at 9 g (raw herb equivalent) per dose, twice daily.
• Converted to ProCare Herbs granules:
  • Calculated at 9 g raw herb per dose: 9 g raw herb ÷ 5 = 1.8 g granules.
• Therefore, the standard recommended dose is: 2 g per dose, twice daily, taken on an empty stomach with light salt water or warm wine (to help the medicinal action move warmly through the body).

5. Cautions and clinical notes

• [Contraindications]:
  1. This formula leans toward enrichment and tonification; use with caution in those with Spleen-Stomach deficiency presenting with poor appetite and loose stools.
  2. Not suitable for those with fever from common cold or with pronounced internal damp-heat.
• [Safety warnings]:
  1. The He Shou Wu used in this formula must be the processed (prepared) form; raw He Shou Wu must never be used, to avoid the risk of hepatotoxicity. ProCare Herbs granules must ensure this requirement is met.
  2. Although Bu Gu Zhi is included to warm yang and counteract cloying richness, digestive function should still be monitored during long-term use.
