
Although this formula contains few herbs, its action is focused and powerful, able to establish yang qi in the middle burner and dispel stubborn cold.
o Cold reversal of the hands and feet, aversion to cold.
o Pale tongue with white, slippery coating.
o Absolutely contraindicated in patterns of internal excess heat binding or yin deficiency with internal heat.
o Contraindicated in patterns of damp-heat obstructing the middle burner.
o The maltose (yi tang) in the formula is sweet, warm, and rich/cloying in nature; it is not suitable for those prone to vomiting, those with a sensation of fullness in the middle (epigastric and abdominal distension), or those with damp-heat patterns.
o Shu Jiao (Sichuan pepper) 6 g + Gan Jiang (dried ginger) 12 g + Ren Shen (ginseng) 9 g = 27 g.
o 27 g raw herbs ÷ 5 = 5.4 g granules.
o One dose daily. Dissolve 5.5 g granules in warm water, mix in 30 g maltose, and take warm in two divided doses.
o Or as directed by the physician. Maltose is an important component of this formula and should not be omitted. The physician will modify the formula according to the severity of the patient's deficiency and cold; in that case the total raw herb weight must be recalculated accordingly.
本方药味虽少,但力专效宏,能建立中焦阳气,驱散痼冷。
o 手足逆冷,畏寒。
o 舌质淡,苔白滑。
o 实热内结、阴虚内热者绝对禁用。
o 湿热中阻者忌用。
o 方中饴糖甘温滋腻,呕家、中满(脘腹胀满)及湿热证不宜使用。
o 蜀椒6g + 干姜12g + 人参9g = 27克。
o 27克生药 ÷ 5 = 5.4克颗粒。
o 每日一剂,将5.5克颗粒用温水溶化后,兑入饴糖30克,分两次温服。
o 或遵医嘱,饴糖为本方重要组成部分,不可省略。医师会根据患者虚寒的严重程度进行加减,届时需按调整后的总生药量重新换算。
