Shu Di Huang (prepared rehmannia root) 24 g + Shan Zhu Yu (cornus fruit) 12 g + Gou Qi Zi (lycium fruit/goji berry) 12 g + Ju Hua (chrysanthemum flower) 9 g + Shan Yao (Chinese yam) 12 g + Dang Gui (Chinese angelica root) 9 g + Ze Xie (alisma rhizome) 9 g + Mu Dan Pi (moutan bark) 9 g + Fu Ling (poria) 9 g = 105 g.

Converted to 5:1 granules:

105 g raw herb ÷ 5 = 21 g granules.

Recommended dose and administration:

• Standard adult daily dose: the classic honey pill is typically taken at 9 g (raw herb equivalent) per dose, twice daily.
• Converted to ProCare Herbs granules:

o Based on 9 g raw herb per dose: 9 g raw herb ÷ 5 = 1.8 g granules.

• Therefore, the standard recommended dose is: 2 g per dose, twice daily, taken with warm water after meals.

5. Cautions and clinical notes

• [Contraindications]:
  1. Most herbs in this formula are yin-nourishing in nature and tend to be rich and cloying; use with caution in those with Spleen-Stomach deficiency cold presenting with poor appetite and loose stools.
  2. Not suitable for red, swollen, and painful eyes with photophobia and excessive discharge caused by Liver channel wind-heat or Liver-Gallbladder damp-heat.
• Dietary restrictions: Avoid spicy and greasy foods while taking this formula.
• Modern applications: This formula is widely used for dry eye syndrome, visual fatigue, early-stage senile cataract, glaucoma, vitreous opacity, and hypertension, when these present with a pattern of Liver-Kidney yin deficiency.
• Duration of use: Eye disorders are mostly chronic conditions, and Liver-Kidney yin deficiency does not develop in a single day. This formula should be taken consistently over a course of treatment under the guidance of a physician for results to appear. Eye health practices, such as gazing into the distance and performing eye exercises, may be combined with the formula to enhance its effect.
