玉屏风散

Huang Qi (astragalus root) 30 g + Bai Zhu (white atractylodes rhizome) 12 g + Fang Feng (siler root) 6 g = 48 g.

Converted to 5:1 granules:

48 g raw herbs ÷ 5 = 9.6 g of granules.

Granule dosage: Dissolve in warm water and take twice daily, morning and evening, about 5 g per dose. (Taking after meals is recommended; the original formula was a powder, and the granule form is now more convenient for taking and absorption.)

5. Cautions and clinical notes

Contraindications:

1. Not to be used when there is an unresolved exterior pattern due to wind-cold or wind-heat with pathogenic excess, to avoid "shutting the door and keeping the bandit in."
2. Not suitable for night sweating due to yin deficiency (sweating after falling asleep at night, which stops upon waking).

Duration of use: This formula is a regulating preparation with a relatively slow onset of action; it must be taken continuously for a certain period to achieve results. It is generally recommended to take it continuously for 4-8 weeks as directed, and once the constitution has improved, the dose may be reduced for maintenance or discontinued.
