旋覆代赭汤

Xuan Fu Hua (inula flower) 9 g + Dai Zhe Shi (hematite) 9 g + Ban Xia (pinellia rhizome) 9 g + Sheng Jiang (fresh ginger) 15 g + Ren Shen (ginseng) 6 g + Da Zao (jujube) 12 g + Zhi Gan Cao (honey-fried licorice root) 9 g = 69 g.

Conversion to 5:1 granules:

69 g raw herbs ÷ 5 = 13.8 g granules.

Granule dose: Dissolve in warm water and take in 3 doses daily, about 4.5 g per dose.

5. Cautions and clinical notes

• Contraindications:
  1. Dai Zhe Shi in this formula is cold in nature and heavy in its sedating/settling action, so it should be used with caution in pregnant women.
  2. Not suitable for vomiting or belching due to Stomach deficiency with heat.
• Safety warning: Ban Xia in this formula is toxic; ProCare Herbs granules must be prepared using processed Ban Xia (such as Fa Ban Xia) to ensure medication safety.
• Modern applications: Mainly used for gastric neurosis, gastric dilation, chronic gastritis, gastric and duodenal ulcer, incomplete pyloric obstruction, neurogenic hiccup, and bile reflux esophagitis, in patterns identified as Stomach deficiency with phlegm obstruction and upward-rebelling qi.
• Duration of use: This formula is a regulating preparation and may be taken for a certain course as directed by a practitioner. Once Stomach qi is harmonized and the rebellious qi is settled, the medication may be discontinued.
