4. Granule conversion and dose

The crude herb ratios in this formula are clearly defined, making it well suited to being prepared as ProCare Herbs granules in proportion.

Recommended dose and method of administration (for children only):

• The dose for children must be calculated strictly according to body weight or age. The following is a general reference only; the specific dose must follow a physician's instructions:

o Ages 1-3: 0.5 g - 1 g per dose, 3 times daily.

o Ages 4-6: 1 g - 1.5 g per dose, 3 times daily.

o Ages 7-12: 1.5 g - 2 g per dose, 3 times daily.

• Method: Mix well with warm water and feed to the child. May be taken continuously for 2-3 days during fever and food stagnation.

5. Cautions and clinical notes

• Contraindications:
  1. This formula is used for wind-heat patterns combined with food stagnation. It is not suitable for external wind-cold (marked aversion to cold, clear runny nose, white tongue coating).
  2. Use with caution in cases of Spleen-Stomach cold deficiency with chronic loose stools.
• Characteristics: This formula has a mild and balanced nature, is composed mainly of food-medicinal substances, and uses Gou Teng (uncaria stem with hooks) at a safe dose. Its purpose is to clear heat, dispel wind, and prevent fright, rather than to heavily sedate and settle wind, so it can be used with confidence in children.
• Modern application: Mainly used for children's common cold with fever, indigestion, and anorexia where the pattern is wind-heat combined with food stagnation.
• Duration of use: This formula is intended for acute, mild conditions; discontinue once the condition resolves. It is not suitable for long-term use as a regular conditioning formula. If there is no improvement in symptoms after 2-3 days of use, a physician should be consulted.
