Calculation of the total raw herb weight of the original formula (excluding yellow rice wine):

Dang Gui (Chinese angelica root) 24 g + Chuan Xiong (Sichuan lovage rhizome) 9 g + Tao Ren (peach kernel) 6 g + Pao Jiang (blast-fried ginger) 2 g + Zhi Gan Cao (honey-fried licorice root) 2 g = 43 g.

Converted to 5:1 granules:

43 g raw herbs ÷ 5 = 8.6 g granules.

Granule dose: Dissolve in warm water and take in 2 doses, morning and evening, about 4.5 g per dose. (For postpartum use, please strictly follow your practitioner's instructions.)

5. Cautions and clinical notes

• [Contraindications]:
  1. Absolutely contraindicated in pregnancy.
  2. Contraindicated in postpartum blood heat with stasis (presenting as heavy lochia, bright red in color, with fever and thirst).
  3. Not suitable for use when lochia is discharging freely and there is no abdominal pain.
• [Key point]: This formula is mainly used for postpartum blood stasis obstruction caused by cold; the key diagnostic points are cold pain in the lower abdomen and dark-colored lochia with clots.
• Modern applications: Mainly used for poor postpartum uterine involution, retained placenta or membranes after delivery, postpartum uterine contraction pain, and bleeding and abdominal pain after induced abortion, where the pattern is blood deficiency with cold congealing and stasis obstruction.
• Duration of use: This formula is for postpartum use only, generally taken for 3-5 doses; discontinue once the condition resolves. Stop once the stasis is transformed and the abdominal pain has resolved. It should not be taken long-term.
