4. Granule conversion and dose

Recommended dose and method of administration:

• Standard adult dose:

o Total daily dose is 20 g of granules.

o Taken in two doses: 10 g per dose, twice daily.

• It is recommended to take warm after meals. A small amount of yellow rice wine may be added as a guiding agent to help the formula's action warm and unblock the channels.

5. Cautions and clinical notes

• Contraindications:
  1. This formula leans toward warming and tonifying, so it should not be used for Bi patterns of damp-heat excess type (manifesting as red, swollen, hot, and painful joints, dry mouth and bitter taste, yellow greasy tongue coating).
  2. Use with caution in those with yin deficiency and effulgent fire (manifesting as vexing heat in the five centers, night sweats, red tongue with scanty coating).
• Safety warning: Xi Xin (asarum herb) in this formula is slightly toxic; at the proportions used here, its absolute dose is controlled. When preparing ProCare Herbs granules, it must still be ensured that this herb has undergone proper processing, and the total amount must be strictly controlled.
• Modern applications: This formula is widely used for rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatic arthritis, osteoarthritis, sciatica, lumbar muscle strain, and similar conditions where the pattern is wind-cold-damp Bi with accompanying deficiency of qi, blood, Liver, and Kidney.
• Duration of use: Bi syndrome is a chronic condition, and a certain course of treatment must be maintained for effect to appear; long-term use may be continued as directed by a practitioner. During treatment, care should be taken to keep warm and avoid overexertion and further exposure to wind, cold, and dampness.
